My Response to Weinergate

To supporters everywhere:

Now that Anthony Weiner has decided to “enter treatment,” I am posting this to ask YOU to help me stop the misguided public discourse over Rep. Weiner and the issue of “indiscretion by men in high places.” This misunderstanding is typified by this June 11 article in the NY TImes:

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/06/12/weekinreview/12women.html?_r=1

As I recently posted, http://sarahwhitedaily.com/2011/06/07/preventing-arousal-frenzy/, what happened to Mr. Weiner, and to so many men before him (and most likely to many more men after him) was a case of “arousal frenzy” which will NOT be helped through traditional forms of “treatment.” Having a man sit in a clinical room talking about why he feels compelled to act sexually is like trying to teach someone to ride a bike by drawing a diagram. You have to get him on the bike!

What Anthony Weiner and other men need is to engage in Naked Therapy so they can start bridging the gap between their rational brain and their arousal brain. They need to talk about themselves, explore their feelings, discuss their choices WHILE AROUSED so they can learn to navigate this brave new Internet world in which sexual opportunities come streaming at us 24/7.

Please help me call on Anthony Weiner, journalists, therapists and American society in general to face the fact that traditional therapy and treatment methods are not best suited to help men overcome the modern plague of “uncontrollable acts of arousal frenzy” that is so rampant in our society. It’s time to try something new – something that specifically addresses the sexuality of men in our arousal-saturated modern world – with the goal of discovering a method that actually works.

It’s time to try Naked Therapy.

  1. Im really glad i found your site! I feel that you have a great understanding of true psychology and the human mind. Your method of therapy will really work to help people improve their understanding of themselves and help them with relationships in their life.

  2. I have two comments and one overall perspective. First Why do any interviews on any FOX so-called news affiliates? Second, Unfortunately having to read all of the selacious information regarding the congressman is what allowed me to even hear about you. Personally I feel Men with so-called Power and prestige fall prey to the “Entitlement Zone”. Now this might sound sexist or but those who feel that they must act in a certain way to prove their worth when in the congressman’s situation had a beautiful wife who seemed devoted to him as well as her independance. Could this be a reason that he chose to engage in the behavior exhibited? It’s one thing to view porn in it’s erotic sense, but to risk it all over individuals you may or may not even meet baffles me. And then and only when they are caught, they feel the time to speak to someone maybe like yourself or staff or to seek traditional treatment for some type of addiction? In traditional therapy how can it accurately be diagnosed? From briefly reading you bio it would seem likely that the way you peform your sessions would allow your patients to be uninhibited and truly be open and truthful about why they would engage in their questionable behavior. just a thought
